August Favorites

Hi, friends! I know September has been here for awhile now and I’m super late, but I’m back with another round of favorites! August was a super busy month between moving in, starting classes, and trying to get back into the swing of things. I swear I was so busy and just on the go non-stop this entire month. I’m finally sitting down and chilling this weekend and I’m low-key hoping that class gets cancelled for the hurricane on Monday.

With everything going on, I did manage to find a lot of products that I loved this past month! I was mainly into skincare this past month. I’ve been prepping for the cold weather that is without a doubt going to wreck my skin. I also have a few fashion pieces that I’ve had my eye on. Without further ado, let’s jump into it!

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion // This has been a nightly staple and a vital part of my skincare routine. I just put a little bit on a q-tip and dab it on problem areas and sleep with it. It dries out your pimples and within a day or two, they’re gone. This shit is magic. I might do a more in-depth skin routine in the future and I’ll definitely be featuring this.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray // Can you tell I love Mario Badescu products? Tbh, I’m not sure what this spray is made to do. Is it a toner? Is it a makeup setting spray? Does it do anything at all? I have no idea but I use it every day before and after I apply my makeup and I genuinely think it’s made my skin more dewey and soft. I have also been using it as a setting spray and it works so well. It keeps my makeup in place all day in this Georgia heat, so that’s saying something

Glossier Boy Brow (black) // OH. MY. GOD. This brow gel is AMAZING. I picked it up from the Glossier showroom in NYC right before I left and I am so glad I did. This gel does it all. It holds your brows in place, fills them in, and doesn’t run. I don’t use other brow products anymore (sorry Anastasia). This is the love of my life and all I use and I cannot hype this up enough.

Perricone MD Facial Cleaner // I have found my absolute favorite cleanser. I actually used this freshman year of college but I smashed the bottle in the community shower and was way too poor to repurchase it, but I finally got it again and I will never not use this. It’s so gentle and easy on sensitive skin. It’s meant to target hormonal acne (fuck periods tbh). If you’re looking for a product to change the game, this is it.

Bodysuits // I have fallen in love with anything that’s a one piece. Bodysuits, jump suits, whatever it is, I’m here for it. I’ve had my eye on this one from Free People for so long. I love the back detail, it definitely adds a little spice to a regular black bodysuit.

Cut Out Dress // I also had my eye on this dress all month, but it was out of stock in my size. I love the cut out detail and the color. I think it’d go well with a pair of slides to dress it down or heeled sandals to dress it up.

Silver Slides // These are officially my favorite purchase of the entire month. I am absolutely obsessed. I definitely ventured out from my usual black shoes. I was always really scared to buy shoes that aren’t black, but I’m so glad I did. These slides are a great statement piece for any outfit and are super duper comfortable!

Patchwork Denim // I’ve also been obsessed with detailed jeans. Rips are always a classic, but I’ve really started to like the patchwork look. I think it definitely adds a little something to your outfit. I can’t wait for my next paycheck, I’m absolutely going to be buying this pair from River Island.

If you’re looking for new music, check out my August playlist on Spotify! I think my favorite song this month was Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato. I’m not usually a fan of mainstream pop (ew I suck) but this song has been my JAM. My roommates and I have definitely jammed out to this in our apartment and my car a ton. The song You F O by Stela Cole was also a bop this past month.

I didn’t have a lot of time to read this past month, but I started The Health Gap: The Challenge of an Unequal World by Michael Marmot. So far it’s really good and thought provoking and I think I’ll learn a lot about disparities in health care. Hopefully I’ll finish that up this month.

Thanks for checking out another favorites post! What products were you loving in August? Let me know!

Until next time,
